We are on team....

PINK!! Our little girl was not shy at the ultrasound on Friday...she was wiggling all around it was pretty difficult for the u/s tech to even see the "goods" at first. But, eventually she got a good look & is 100% sure that we are having a little girl in November! Here's the "money" shot from the u/s on Friday:

I loved the ultrasound, but of course, I always love seeing Baby Worry Bud. And by doing this (non-medical) u/s instead of attempting to move up my official anatomy scan, I still get to see her again in a couple weeks, woot! Best $75 ever spent & we got to find out what we are having a few weeks early, which has enabled me to get started on my crafting (I've already been to Michaels for the supplies for 2 of my planned projects :o). I'm really into DIY crafts & decorating, so my baby girl's room will be no exception! And although I didn't pay for a 3D/4D scan, the nice tech did a few for us anyways, here's the best one - it's a top view looking down on the baby, so you can see her head, nose & a little bit of her body:

As for Mr. WB - he's really excited about his little girl. I think he was in shock at first - because literally EVERYONE we knew thought it was a boy, including me. And all men want at least one son, but there's (God willing) always a next time & we are both absolutely thrilled as long as she's happy & healthy. He calls her by her name now when he rubs my belly & tells her he loves her - it literally melts my heart! She's so gonna have her daddy wrapped around her little finger. We told the rest of my family (already told my dad, mom & my MIL because we knew they wouldn't be here) today during our cookout. I baked a 2-layer cake with pink frosting inside & had my sister cut it to reveal the gender! She was so happy for us. None of our parents could make it to the BBQ, but they are all very excited too - especially my mom who had been hoping for a granddaughter! So now that we know we are having a little girl, we will really get started planning out the rest of the nursery, which I am so excited about! And after our 20 week anatomy scan, we'll likely go & register. My older sister has already started planning my shower, which will be in early October! I feel like everything is happening so quickly & we can't wait to meet our beautiful little girl in November!

Decisions, decisions leads to $, $, $!!

Finding the "perfect" bedding for Baby Hopeful Bud has been quite an adventure. I thought I found it right away and I was so excited about how easy it was, but the fact that I kept looking led me to believe that the one I thought I loved, may not be the "perfect" one. So three weeks later, after sending countless emails of bedding pics to my sister and friends, I believe I have finally found the "perfect" bedding for our Girlie. It is way more pink then I ever thought I would get, but I love it, and I haven't looked at a single other option since finding this one. I'm thinking that if we paint the walls a light green, that the pink will be subdued a bit.

We also purchased the crib last week and it is ready for pick up. I'm a bargain shopper, but it is amazing how expensive things are already starting to pile up.

The one awesome bargain that we bought is thanks to my sister. She found a solid oak dresser/changing table on craigslist.com and we loved it. Being super creative, she has offered to refinish it for us. I'm so excited.

So we have the crib, bedding and dresser/changing table. The next purchase is the rocker/glider and then the nursery furniture will be complete. One to more details and decisions which will inevitably continue costing more and more money. She will be so worth it though!!
Take care and stay hopeful!

Baby Hopeful Bud is a girl!!

It's amazing how much my life, outlook, thoughts, perception on things has changed in the last 24 hours since finding out we were having a baby girl. In some strange way seeing her on the ultrasound yesterday for the first time made it all the more real. I'm sure the same change in attitude would have happened if we saw that we were having a boy too.

So yesterday when we went for our u/s, I think both Mr. Hopeful Bud and myself knew that we were having a girl, but we both wanted a boy so badly that we never really admitted to each other that we thought it was going to be a girl. :) Wishful thinking sometimes has a way of clouding intuition. When we went into the room with the tech I told her that I didn't want to know the sex of Baby HB until the very end, that we wanted to spend as much time with our baby as possible and just wanted to enjoy every moment. So the tech went about her business of finding the kidneys (good!), finding the bladder (good!), beating heart (a beautiful 138 bpm), perfect sized brain, good blood flow through the umbilical cord, everything looked great! Baby HB wasn't moving around much at all, so the tech kept pushing and shaking my belly with the wand saying "wake up little one!" Finally after the fourth shake, she started to wake up, but not before giving the biggest yawn ever. I know I'm biased, but I'm pretty sure that yawn was the most spectacular thing that any baby has ever done before. :) After her big yawn she started kicking and wiggling all over. The whole experience was just precious!! After about 15 minutes of just watching her, the tech said "are you ready to find out what you are having?" We looked at each other and said "yes". Without any hesitation she said "It's a girl!" Of course I was already crying, but started to cry even more upon hearing those words. I guess I never realized how much I really wanted a girl. The tech said she weighs approximately 12 ounces and is measuring right at 20w1d, which is just one day difference then my due date.
The only cause of concern on the ultra sound is that my placenta seems to be too close to my cervix. So the tech requested that I get another u/s at 28 weeks to make sure that my placenta is moving away like it should be. Our doctor said that in 90% of cases, the placenta moves away normally on it's own. My understanding is that if it doesn't move away, this could lead to Placenta Praevia. I guess we will see in 8 weeks. I'm just excited that we get to see our little girl again!
Well, that's about it. Telling friends and family was so much fun. Now we get to start narrowing down name, bedding, thinking about registering. So much to do and so little time!!
Take care and stay hopeful!!
