Pregnancy Announcement
May 14, 2012
16w2d and GENDER!!!!!
Maternity clothes: The only thing "maternity" I have purchased has been a belly band, which I use with most of my jeans... I have one pair of jeans left that fit comfortably, because they were huge on me pre-pregnancy... but ALL others are either too tight or don't close at all. I feel most comfortable in leggings, stretchy pants and dresses.
Stretch Marks: Yes, unfortunately :( I had some pre-pregnancy on my very low belly (apparently I am susceptible to them, cause I have them on my breasts as well). But, a few weeks ago, I noticed 2 little lines to the right of my belly button. Since to the left I had a couple of veins, I wrote them off as veins as well... but turns out they are NOT veins :-/ Gotta get something to put on them ASAP.
Movement: Last week, I was taking a nap on the couch... I don't know if it was my imagination or what, but I felt some weird movement really low. Haven't felt it again since, so we'll see :)
Sleep: Still sleeping well... but I blame that on the fact that I have been EXTREMELY busy, and therefore EXTREMELY exhausted.
Best Moment This Past Week: Finding out the sex of the baby, Mother's Day, and continuing to receive gifts for our LO :)
Most Difficult Moment This Past Week: On Thursday, I sort of slipped and went to a knee (didn't completely fall on the floor or anything) but that had me a bit concerned. Luckily, nothing happened :)
Belly Button In or Out: In. I bought a maternity belly ring, but it's been a bit irritated even since before, so sometimes I wear it, and sometimes I don't... I have been putting vinegar and water with salt on it. Hopefully it gets better soon!
Cravings/Aversions: Nothing major... just can't eat too much without getting sick :-/
Symptoms: Occasionally tired, but I blame that on things being so hectic... MS has died down a bit, so I am hoping it is gone for good. Boobs and nipples are sore from time to time, but nothing too major :)
Now, for the good stuff....
On Saturday, Mr. DBud and I decided to have an elective US for Gender. We went to this awesome place in Doral called The Bonding Site, which was amazing! If you are in the South Florida area, I HIGHLY recommend it :) :) :)
Anyway, we were able to find out that our LO is a.....
We are BEYOND thrilled!!! Now, we have to officially decide on a name, and start getting things really ready :) I purchased a Stuffed Bear that has the baby's heartbeat recorded on a battery operated pack, so that when you squeeze it, you hear the heartbeat... ADORABLE!!! When HE is born, we will order the sweater with the babies info for it :) Here is the website for the Teddy Bear :)
Until next time!!!!! <3 <3 <3

16 Weeks
Some things that I am looking forward to are:
*I signed up for some Bradley childbirth education classes today, which start in mid February.
*My next apt. with my midwife is on January 19th, and she will give me an order for my ultrasound. I am really looking forward to getting more information about how the baby is growing, and hopefully the reassurance that everything is fine! (167 days to go!)
My heart really goes out to those of you who are still struggling to have children. The struggles, stress, difficulty and pain that we went through is still so fresh in my mind that it is hard to see others going through similar struggles and pain. I hope so much that all of you will soon have your dream of having a baby and I hope to be able to share in your joy as well.

16 Weeks
Physical Progress: My midwife says my uterus is just below my belly button.
How I am feeling about my body: I still feel really good. I did get sun burnt today along with an itchy rash. Sun burn + itching = sucky!
Cravings/Aversions: I love chocolate milk lately and still candy.
Energy Level: Tired today from my allergic reaction to the sun.
Baby Movement: Yes! Just a little rolling feeling, so cool!
Thoughts/Feelings/Emotions: Still enjoying this pregnancy.
16 Week Appointment Update: I got a blood draw today for neural tube defects, not because I have any risk factors but because it is that time. I am still anxious about it though. I think I will call Monday and check for results. We scheduled our tour of the birth center/hospital for June 1st. Our anatomy scan as well as a fetal echocardiogram (due to the abnormal NT results) is July 6th. On June 8th we are going to a natural birth "expo" type thing where there will be counselors, people who specialize in wraps to show us, and a bunch of other stuff. It is free through the hospital! Lots of exciting stuff coming up. Plus next month I will be half way done!
Names: Our boy name is Asher, we are still working out a middle name. We really liked Mia for a girl name but it is in the top 10 for 2010 and that is WAY too common. I swear I have looked at every single name ever and we can't find one we love. Suggestions are welcome!

16 Week Update
The last couple nights I've been having trouble sleeping. Namely whenever I accidentally roll over onto my back I'll wake up with my ute area in pain. I'm figuring this is Mother Natures way of telling me to stay off my back. Unfortunately, the theory I had of sticking a spare pillow behind me to slow my roll didn't work, I woke up in pain with the pillow next to me. I ordered one of those Snoogle things from Amazon (credit to them for the image). I'll report back to let you know how it works. Its gotten rave reviews from everyone I know in real life and online.

How far along: 16 weeks 4 days
Total weight change: +3 (Lost a pound in the last week. Not sure how I pulled that one off seeing as I'm eating like a teenage boy)
Maternity clothes: Pretty much all the time.
Stretch Marks: No
Movement: Not yet.
Sleep: Just having to get up a couple times a night to pee. Last couple of nights I've woken myself up when I accidentally rolled onto my back. Apparently my ute doesn't approve of that anymore. We'll see if the Snoogle remedies the situation.
Best Moment This Past Week: Tuesday a stranger looked me up & down and asked if I was asking specifically about maternity care.
Most Difficult Moment This Past Week: The lack of symptoms/movement and potentially switching OB care. Again. The nerves about my appointment next week are starting up as well.
Belly Button In or Out: Definitely still in
Cravings/Aversions: Food. Lots of it.
Symptoms: Not really much to be honest with you. Little bit of RLP today, but otherwise nothing blatant. There have been things like a big appetite, tiring easy and a bit of a bump though. Oh & skin tags are popping up like nobody's business. Joy.
What I'm Looking Forward To: Movement
Here are a few belly shots from the past week. They were taken near the beginning of the week in the evening (belly is a little bigger in the evenings).

I've Been MIA--Updates Galore!
Baby is doing great! I'm 16 weeks, 5 days today. We had our 15 week appointment two weeks ago, and talked about nutrition (I'm doing well but need to eat more veggies), the midwife answered some questions we had, and then we got to hear the heartbeat again (150's). Our anatomy scan is scheduled for April 20, at 8am. We're still team green, but are looking very forward to seeing Magnolia Bud v2.0 again. Especially because it may be our last ultrasound until we meet him or her in September if everything continues to go well. I am starting to get concerned that the ultrasound will show a shorter cervical length than we'd like, because my LEEP was still less than a year ago. But there's nothing we can do about it between now and the ultrasound, so I'm trying not to think about it and not to worry.
We've been thinking about working on our registries, so after our 15 week appointment, we went to the birth center's store and tried on some baby carriers. We both loved the Moby, and even Mr. Magnolia Bud was able to get it tied properly after one try. We also loved the Ergo, and think those two will work well for our family. We're going to be spending some serious time working on the registry this week and next week.
Around the house, Mr. MB has started painting the baby's room. We chose Sherwin Williams 6764, Swimming, as the wall color, and are leaving the trim and ceiling white. The first coat is done, and Mr. MB will finish the second coat later this week when I'm out of town. He's also going to be painting our bathroom and the guest room while I'm out of town--so all we'll have left before MB2.0 gets here is our room, the hallway, MB2.0's bathroom, and our fourth bedroom. Haha, now that it's in writing, it sure seems like a lot!
In terms of baby gear, I told you a while back that we bought our co-sleeper, right? Mr. MB set it up in our room to see how it looks, and it's become a permanent sleeping place for one of our cats. Our room is huge--stretches across the entire front of our house, and it doesn't have much in it but our bed and nightstands--so the co-sleeper isn't in the way. Knowing that, we're just going to keep it up for now. We're borrowing a crib from our best friends, and Mr. MB set that up in the baby's room to make sure all the parts were there and get it cleaned.
We set a date for one of my showers--Mr. MB's family is throwing us one on July 31, when I'll be 33 weeks. My mother in law is so excited about anything baby--it's really cute. She's already called all of her friends to tell them to save the date, and she's going to be sending out invites at the end of next month. I don't think my mom is throwing us one anymore, which is fine with us--I'd much rather her put her effort into one great one for my sister, since she's only having one.
Otherwise, I'm feeling great. I have my energy back, the weather is great (70's-80's and sunny most days), my job is overwhelming but I'm doing fairly well at it, and I can eat again. I've started gaining weight (up 5lbs from pre-pregnancy), my nutrition is on track, and we've started reading childbirth books. Our birth classes (8-week series at the birth center) start May 2, and will be every Monday night from 7:30-10pm. We also signed up for a breastfeeding class at the birth center on September 1, and a Baby Care Basics class at the Women's Hospital near our house in July.
Hope you're all doing well! I'm loving reading about all of my fellow Buds' journeys.
Lots of love, Magnolia Bud

A {late} 16 week update!
April 28, 2010
I've done such a horrible job..
15 Weeks

16 Weeks

17 Weeks

18 Weeks

18.5 Weeks

Look at my belly grow! So exciting. I can't believe to this day I have a baby growing in there. Its simply amazing. I ask him/her everyday to give me a sign what him/her is. Yeah I get nothing.
Things have finally been easing up. I haven't thrown up in about 4 days. Yay! That's so awesome. Saturday night I threw up some french fries. I think my baby really enjoys eating healthy food. I have been having this vegetable kick. I love corn on the cob and green beans. Really I could eat them every day. And I guess thats a good thing right?
I also know love bananas. Yum! Most fruit I love. I still can't eat chicken. YUCK! But do love breakfast sausage and pork. I have never wanted more breakfast sausage in my life. This poor kid is going to come out wanting a McDonald's Sasuage McMuffin. At least they are only a dollar? But geez the fat is ridiculous. You have to eat what your cravings want right?
I do also love a Pepsi every now and then. I can't believe this. Its not like I didn't like Pepsi before but I can't tell you the last time I drank a real Pepsi before I got pregnant. It had to be years ago.
Sno cones are also on the top of my favorite things. So yummy and so nice and cold and refreshing. I haven't really had any in the middle of the night cravings. I do every now and then have a want for something like candy at night but I just go to bed instead of telling Mr. OB to go to the store to get me some. I can usually fight it with water.
Sleep is beginning to be interesting. I tend to wake up every time I turn to the side. I don't know if its me making sure I don't roll over on my stomach or what.
We did a 5K this weekend. Yep this little old pregnant woman ran/walked a 5K. Who says a pregnant woman can't run? Seriously I loved it. I think my little baby did also. After working out he/she is always moving.
Oh I forgot to tell you about the flutters. I guess about at 16 weeks I felt the first one. It felt like the little one was tickling me on the inside. Its a very interesting feeling that makes me smile every time I feel it. I can't wait until I get to feel the first kick or punch.
On the nursery front we have been busy. We bought this set yesterday:

We bought the crib, the hutch and the 6 drawer dresser. We are also going to get a night stand, a glider (Any ideas on a good one) and some bookshelves.
Looks like one of the big purchases (of the many) are done. We still need to get the stroller, carseat, glider, and a video monitor. So much fun stuff to do!
My next update should be telling you whether its a boy or a girl. What do you think? Leave me a comment! I can't wait to find out

17 weeks & It's a BOY!
He filled out his form and then sent me across the hall to their other office where they do the scans.
So I got on the table and the tech started checking around. The first thing we got was Baby LB's HB which was 146bpm, then we saw his hand up and saying "hello!", then as she moved around and before she even asked if we wanted to know the sex I already knew what it was :) I said "well, that looks like HIS penis so I'm guessing it's a BOY?"
She said yes and I just started laughing...hysterically. Not the reaction I had planned on having but it's what happened lol. I've been calling Baby LB a "he" since the day I found out I was pregnant. I've always just had this feeling. The funny comes from the fact that I'm usually NEVER right about guessing genders. DH was beyond thrilled, he got very emotional and could no stop grinning from ear to ear all day. The rest of the scan went well Baby was laying on his back so we got a nice profile shot of him. I really think he's going to end up looking like my husband which would be kinda funny since Mr. LB is an exact duplicate of his father. Baby LB has the cutest little nose! I can't stop looking at him.
After the appt. we went to lunch and bought a few items for our boy :)
Re: the pregnancy.
The last couple of weeks have been uneventful except for the baby flutters! Those have been amazing. Aside from still being tired at around 4:00pm every day, I've been feeling good. My next appt. is the 17th for the anatomy scan. My OB says everything looks great and that if everything looks good with the anatomy scan next week we should be good to go!
at our next appt. with the OB we'll have another u/s so it'll be nice to see the LO every 2 weeks.
Re: getting ready for Baby LB!
We've started the process of emptying out the office which will eventually becoming Baby LB's room. It's definitely proving to be a PITA but it's all worth it. I heard from the baby store that the crib will take about 2.5 months to arrive. So the plan is to order it by next month so it will be here some time in mid-May. The carpets in this room need to be re-don so we're hoping to have the room painted before that happens. Painting will most likely be done next month and the carpet change following that. There's a lot to do!
We're both very excited with this very big change. I still thank God everyday for the blessing of our baby. I still really can't believe that I actually get to become "Mommy". It's such a long way from the days that I truly felt it was never going to happen.

When will this ride end?
We finally sold our home, moved out December 28th, lived with friends until January 15th until our apartment was ready. We are now in our apartment and on the hunt for our "forever home!" We haven't gotten the internet set up at home, so checking the internet has become a pain, hence the longer-than-expected absence from Bloomin Babies. I finished my first class of graduate school with an "A"!!! I was so proud of myself. Currently taking class #2.
Now for an update on Baby BrainyBud...
Bleeding stopped for about 6 days and then started back. Baby went on a weekend getaway with me and my mom and it was my secret!
Week 10
Celebrated 4th wedding anniversary and thanksgiving. I was able to take a lot of leave from Thanksgiving-Christmas because I had so much leave time built up.
Bleeding began to get worse and started to scare me that I was losing the baby. I was so exhausted for the last 3 weeks, that my body would start shutting down around 8pm.
Week 12
Still bleeding but stopped taking Progestrone. Baby took a trip with mom and dad to the University and mom's frequently traveled to work place. Began having some tummy aches that would last for a few more weeks. Found out that my college friend is due 2 days prior to me and a friend from church is due 2 days after me. Had my 3rd OB/GYN visit. Baby is perfectly healthy with NO reason for the bleeding. Baby was moving arms and legs so fast, I thought it was the heartbeat to begin with.
Week 13
Came down with a MAJOR ear infection! The doctor said that I was beating my little one to it. He said it was like a 2-year-old's ear infection. YUK. I felt terrible! The baby even went with us to the Nutcracker Ballet. The bleeding finally stopped sometime during this week.
Week 14
We finally announced our pregnancy at Christmas, everyone was so excited and surprised! It was the most scarest thing we've ever had to say to family. We moved the day after Christmas and no one let me do anything! Even though I had been packing for weeks prior.
Week 15
Still announcing to people and still exhausted. New Years was interesting.
Week 16
Baby's first snow and won't be able to see it. Mr. BrainyBud went sledding on the day that was supposed to be our 4th U/S but was rescheduled due to the snow and ice. Went to the dentist and he gave me a set of "Baby's First Toothbrushes" for our impending little one.
Week 17
I began to worry because I have NOT gained ANY weight. I wondered if something was wrong all week. Had our 4th U/S that lasted 15 minutes but only took the tech 2 seconds to announce...
That's my update for now...Faith, Love and Baby Flutters,

Don't Mess With the Pregnant Chick
I'm officially 16 weeks and 4 days pregnant. For the most part it's been very easy going and up until the last 2 or 3 weeks I've kept my hormones in check. We've had a few tiffs but they've been minor and nothing to really speak of. I've also had the occasional bout of uncontrollable tears, mostly in the privacy of my own company if I think too much about - "OMG are we READY for this?" or "Can I handle this?"
Last night took the cake though! If you care to hear about my irrational, hormonal, and unreasonable behavior; read on:
So I've been having some issues with basically anything sounding good to eat lately. Not that anything makes me sick, just that nothing sounds good. That in itself annoys Mr. GB, because I'm usually the one who gets home first and has dinner planned and started by the time he walks in the door. Recently, I find myself standing in front of our pantry or at the grocery store with no clue what to eat. Nothing sounds good and I have no motivation to cook. On a number of nights he's walked in the door to find me still staring cluelessly into the freezer?!
Yesterday, we had both just gotten paid and I knew he was leaving for the weekend so I thought to myself; Mexican sounds good. I'll suggest we go up to the Mexican restaurant! In walks Mr. GB who tells me he is tired, has already worked 40 hours this week and it's only Thursday; he just wants to relax. So he suggests I go to the grocery store, get a frozen meal of enchiladas and we make our own rice and beans. He also mentions we already have chips and homemade salsa and that we shouldn’t be spending money on going out. Long story short - Mr. GB ended up eating the frozen meal sans rice, beans, chips or salsa - Mrs. GB ended up eating a frozen pizza. The enchiladas looked gross and I wanted REAL Mexican.
Right now I just have to look back and laugh because I honestly think, who WAS that crazy person last night crying over MEXICAN FOOD! Yes followers, I was bawling...
...please help me make it through this?!?!
