Final Follie Scan: I Wish I May I Wish I Might Ovulate on my Own Tonight!

So Thursday evening (11/12/09) I had my Final Follie Scan with Dr. B. We did my ultrasound first this time and I was anxious to see what was going on with my follies! Well, those 3 follies that were 14mm on Monday evening (11/9/09) grew to 20mm! What was even more surprising is that Dr. B showed me on the ultrasound how the follies were starting to rupture on their own and that he believed I was getting my LH surge!! He said the blood work would tell him more.

So after my amazing ultrasound, Nurse K drew my blood again and told me they would call me tomorrow to let me know if my LH had surged! Dr. B said that if my LH was surging and he believed it was, that I WOULD OVULATE ON MY OWN ON FRIDAY and there would be no reason for him to write me a prescription for Ovidrel! What OVULATE ON MY OWN!?! I had not done that in over a year! I feel blessed that I don't have to spend money on Ovidrel, but I am truly thankful that my body is cooperating this cycle. As a matter of fact Dr. B said this was a Perfect Cycle!

OVULATION DAY!
So sure enough I get a call from Dr. B's office letting me know that my LH did surge Thursday and that I should be ovulating on Friday 11/13/09. The nurses ordered me progesterone suppositories that I have to pick up today, and told me to make sure I BD Friday night and today as well. I go for my Beta at Dr. B's on Friday 11/27/09. I began having ovulation pains around 9:00 PM last night, and now I am just praying that one Mr. Blessed Bud's swimmers meet my egg!!

First Follie Check!

So yesterday (cycle day 11) I had my first follicle check with Dr. B! I took Femara cycle days 5-9 and Follistim every other day. In addition, Dr. B has me on 1500 mg of Metformin every day for my PCOS.

My first stop at his office was into the lab to have my blood drawn by Nurse K, to check my estrogen and progesterone levels.

Next it was time for my ultrasound with Dr. B. and I was praying that I would be responding well to this particular protocol. Sure enough the ultrasound revealed 3 follies all size 14.

Dr. B's Instructions:

BD on Wednesday
Return for final Ultrasound and Trigger shot on Thursday

Looks like Mr. Blessed Bud and I are in for a busy week...

An Unbelieveably Blessed Day!

So a little history...
4 weeks ago at the beginning of my Follistim/Femara Cycle and during a Hysteroscopy my RE Dr. B found a large uterine polyp that took up the majority of my uterine cavity. Dr. B cancelled the cycle and told me I would need it surgically removed before I could cycle again. He tried for awhile to get it with his forceps but he could not. I then made appointment with Dr. R my OB/GYN and she scheduled me for a Saline Sonogram for Tuesday November 3.

Fastforward to Tuesday November 3
Dr. R and her colleague Dr. G performed the Saline Sonogram this afternoon and according to what they saw my uterus was clear and informed me I would not need surgery and that the polyp probably passed on its own... What?????? I was so irritated and confused because I saw that huge ugly polyp for myself on the video screen during my hysteroscopy.

So I get to my car and call my RE Dr. B. He tells me to come right in to his office no appointment at all and gave me a sonogram and another Hysteroscopy this evening and the huge polyp is gone!!!!! He showed me the before and after pics tonight and it is truly unbelievable! I have been praying about this situation and Dr. B gave me the all clear to go ahead and cycle so I will be doing Femara, Follistim Ovidrel and Timed Intercourse! I love Dr. B!!!

Cycle 2 Cancelled: Hysteroscopy Results

A Uterine Polyp Rears its Ugly Head...
So earlier this month I was at the beginning of Cycle 2 of Ovulation Induction with Femara, Follistim and Timed Intercourse when I had a Hysteroscopy on day 5 of my cycle. During the procedure Dr. B discovered a large Uterine Polyp that extends from one side of my uterus to the other side and it looked like a tongue. He cancelled the Cycle immediately, so of course I was sad because Mr. Blessed Bud and I were hoping to get PG in October because my birthday was October 7 and our one year anniversary was October 11. On a brighter note, Dr. B thinks that this is the reason for my miscarriages and he says that Uterine Polyps swell up when your body produces estrogen, and the polyps themselves can interfere with the proper implantation of the embryo.

Here is an image of 2 large Uterine Polyps:

Just What is a Hysteroscopy?
A Hysteroscopy is a technique used to look inside the uterus. A hysteroscope is a thin telescope-like device that is placed into the uterus through the vagina and the cervix. The procedure helps doctors diagnose and treat a variety of uterine problems.

Dr. B's Verdict...
So the verdict is I have to have a hysteropic polypectomy in order to have my uterine polyp removed. Fortunately this surgery is ambulatory (in and out the same day), and I made an appointment with my OB/GYN Dr. R for a pre-surgery consult so I can have this polyp removed asap.

Moving Forward...
I am truly ready to have this surgery and Mr. Blessed Bud and I are looking forward to cycling again with Dr. B by December...
