25 weeks...and some change

Today marks 25 weeks 3 days > 102 days left!.  LO is the size of an eggplant this week and Parker is now about 1.5 pounds and is approximately 14 inches long from crown to rump.  His movements are becoming more pronounced every day and I love to sit up in bed and watch my belly jump and roll.

My mom and I picked up the nursery furniture yesterday!  =o)  It's so exciting...I wish I had a nursery to assemble them in (we're in the middle of some renovations).  But that's okay.  It will be just as exciting, if not more, in the next few weeks.  We bought a set from Burlington Coat Factory with a crib, chest of drawers and changing table.  I like them very much.

As far as pregnancy symptoms this week?  Well, the heartburn is back...with a vengeance!  I keep a bottle of Tums with me at all times!  And my ankles!!!!!  Oh man, they're beginning to swell.  It's not cute, especially since I'm on my feet all day at work.  I've had some people remark that I have that "glow" now, which I don't see at all.  But hey, I don't mind them saying it one little bit.  And I love how I've begun to notice how people/patients no longer question whether or not I'm pregnant.  Instead of hesitantly asking "are you pregnant?" like they don't want to insult me, they now ask "when are you due?"  It's fabulous and I know that I light up whenever someone asks.

I have my glucose tolerance test next Monday - the day after Mother's Day.  I'm nervous but slightly excited for the simple reason that it marks another milestone in my pregnancy (I will be just 2 days away from my last week of the 2nd trimester).

I'm attempting to do better with my posting, so I will write again soon!

25 Weeks

Only 101 days left until Baby Girls due date! Our baby is now 1 1/2 lbs, 13.5 inches, and growing fast! She is moving around plenty and I can often feel her kicks from the outside with my hand.

Overall I am feeling great except I have very mild heartburn in the day at times, and the past few nights I am having a hard time sleeping. I am not huge and uncomfortable yet, but it is just a combination of a lot of small things, like I keep getting hungry, have to pee so often, have a stuffy nose, cramping in my feet and non stop kicking from the Baby Girl. None of it is that bad, but all together I just can't sleep the past few nights. I was sooo tiered today and went to bed at 8pm, and here it is 1am and I still can't sleep. At least it is the weekend so Mr. Lucky Bud can watch the kids while I take a nap tomorrow.

I am having fun getting a lot of projects done and the house better organized before the baby is born. Knowing that the midwifes are going to be in my house is an extra motivator to get things a bit tidier and in order. I finished a little quilt last week that I made for the baby. I will have to post that picture and a belly picture this weekend since I didn't get around to that this week.

25 weeks - 99 days to go

Summer School is over!!!!!!!!!!!!  I only had 2 full weeks with out school activities before it started, so I haven't really felt like I've had much of a summer break yet.  I only have 3 full weeks off before school starts, and I'll be on vacation for one of those, so I have to squeeze in a lot before then!  I ended up enjoying summer school.  The kids are not the same ones we have during the year, but even in only 4 weeks, they really grew on me, and I think I grew on them.  Many of them asked about Baby TB, were excited (as excited as high schoolers get - excitement is generally not "cool") to hear that Baby TB is a boy.  They were not happy with our decision not to tell people the name (that we haven't chosen yet) until after he is born.  I told them they'd just have to come back and visit if they wanted to find out.  I hope they do anyway.

Today, we officially hit double digits - 99 days until my due date of 11/11/11.  I can't believe we've come so far.  It seems like we still have so much left to do.  I haven't even looked at pediatricians yet, we haven't picked a car seat or stroller, so much to do - so little time.  I know we'll get it all done, it just seems daunting right now.

25 week update
Belly Measurement/Weight: Up 3 lbs at my last appt!  Finally!
25w4d

Physical Progress: Getting rounder, and rounder.

How I am feeling about my body: Pretty good.  I'm sore sometimes, but it amazes me how much my body can do.  It does feel some times like the skin on my belly is going to split open, but I just lather on more tummy butter, and hope for the best.   I am hotter than I feel like I've ever been.  The end of July was really hot, heat indexes above 100 multiple days.  The weather people keep comparing this to the summer of 1995 - which I have clear memories of as the summer that my family got air conditioning, and I got heat exhaustion.  When it is so hot and humid, I just can't be outside long, I am miserable.

Energy Level: Better now that I can sleep in and take naps!

Baby Movement: He's a wiggle worm!  Mr. TB has now felt him move several times.  Last night he was talking to Baby TB, and I felt the baby start to move in response, so I lay down so that he could really feel.  Baby TB was kicking up a storm!  Mr. TB gave me this surprised look and said "Is that him??  That's not your stomach muscles or something?"I assured him that was the baby he was feeling, and he marveled at how much stronger the kicks have gotten just in the last week.

25 Week Update

Belly Measurement/Weight: As of my 24 week appointment I am up about 9 pounds and my uterus is measuring right on track!

Physical Progress: Baby is now the size of an eggplant! Baby and uterus are so big that I am having awful rib pain already! I had rib pain toward the end of 3rd tri with my daughter so I was expecting it but not this early. My remedy is basically Tylenol if it is REALLY bad otherwise I just ice it.

How I am feeling about my body: I feel good about my body, I am happy to look pregnant. I am definitely getting bigger (duh).

Energy Level: My energy has still been kind of low but I haven't been sleeping good. I just can't get comfortable, again this is SO early! I'm worried about how exhausted I am going to be when Baby BB actually arrives.

Baby Movement: Baby is still very active and definitely getting stronger. He/She likes to roll and twist around in there. The kids and Mr. BB love feeling him/her move.

I am starting to get anxious about going through the newborn phase again. I remember it with my daughter and it was insane. It is exhausting! I know we will be sleep deprived and sometimes frustrated but still have two other kids to contend with. I'm nervous about it but I know people do it all the time so we will make it through. Besides, it's all totally worth it.

I am also getting nervous about breast feeding. I did not breast feed my daughter so I am super nervous to try it with this baby. I am really hoping to be successful and enjoy it. I plan on taking a breast feeding class with Mr. BB and reading a few books on it as well. I am waiting to be further along in my pregnancy to do that though.

I have my glucose test at my next appointment, I am hoping to pass that! After the 28 week appointment we move to appointments every two weeks, CRAZY!

That's all for now!

Double Digits!

99 days until my due date!

Unbelievable to me to get this far. I've come a long ways from the 280 that the pregnancy started out at! 65% of the way done and inching ever-so-close to the 3rd Trimester.

Since I'm here, might as well do my 25 week update.

How far along: 25 weeks 6 days

Total weight change: Last I knew I was up 11.5...but its probably closer to 13 now. I really need to try and weigh myself again at home.

Maternity clothes: Round 2 of the maternity clothes has officially begun...courtesy of my boobs. They are apparently having another growth spurt. Up to a 40F from the 36D that I started out in. In the past couple weeks I've outgrown the bras I got at the beginning of 2nd Tri and it also became clear to me that a sundress I'd been hoping to enjoy in 3rd Trimester was too snug for the girls. I'm really hoping they are about done growing. I'm running out of places that sell my size bra & they are getting huge, sweaty and annoying in the summer heat.

Stretch Marks: Maybe the start of one. I'm not sure yet if its a stretch mark or a varicose vein.

Movement: He had the hiccups one morning earlier this week! The same movement repeated in the same place at an even timing for a few minutes. I used to get hiccups in utero all the time according to my mom, so at least I know the kid takes after me in some way. Other than the hiccups he's been pretty lethargic this week. I'm writing it off to the heat though. Our temps are up a good 10-15 degrees and we don't have AC. I figure if I'm lethargic, the baby probably is as well.

Sleep: Better than last week...at least its just the peeing waking me up now. Hint to those who have arms fall asleep when they sleep on their sides: Stick a pillow (I use my snoogle) under your ribs about where your boobs are. That seems to allow the blood to keep flowing to the arm for me.

Best Moment This Past Week: Fetal Hiccups. Distant second and third are reaching double digits and having shower gifts start showing up.

Most Difficult Moment This Past Week: Dealing with the heat this past week. For the most part I'm getting by, but there are times when it feels like I just can't cool off.

Belly Button In or Out: Definitely still in, but I think its getting shallower.

Cravings/Aversions: Icy cold goodness in any way that I can get it. Have I mentioned it's hot here this week???

Symptoms: Fetal hiccups, kicks, hunger, and the ever growing giant belly.

What I'm Looking Forward To: Getting past the EDD for my first pregnancy (July 15th). I can't believe that its just a week from today.

V-Day & GTT

Tomorrow I will be 25 weeks pregnant. I know everyone says this, but time really does fly. I think weeks 14-18 were sort of slow and boring but now that the weather is getting nicer, I'll be keeping very busy until August.

I passed the 24 week "viability" day last week, which was a huge milestone. I also had my glucose tolerance test yesterday. The glucola drink wasn't the greatest tasting thing, but it wasn't all that bad either.

The worst part was sitting in the waiting room forever. So boring! My OB does a 2-hour test per the new guidelines so I got to sit there for 2 hours and 3 blood draws.

The good news is, I passed the GTT! No gestational diabetes here. I was very relieved to hear that.

Mr. Sassy Bud and I have been working on the nursery, so hopefully I'll have pics of that to share soon. We set up all the furniture and painted the walls. Things are really starting to come together!

25-26 weeks & double digits!!!

O.M.G. I can't believe how quickly time is flying! I'm sure I have said this before, but for realz - it's flying. I remember how excruciatingly slow the 1st tri seemed to go by & now I feel like the second has FLOWN by - a few more days & I'll be officially in the 3rd tri (I am going by the 26.6 weeks = 3rd tri, but accoring to some sources, I already am in the 3rd tri!!). I looked at my little ticker today & I only have 97 days left until Baby Worry Bud's EDD - double digits baby!!! Ahhhhh. She's still busy as ever moving away in there...still the size of an eggplant according to The Bump. Another little token of knowledge The Bump gave me today when I opened my email - I may start feeling Braxton Hicks contractions, which I'm sure will freak me out. It may sound crazy, but I still worry about this little girl - I'm sure that'll never change - but anytime I feel a weird twinge or something I haven't felt before, then I get worried about her. Not as worried as I was in the 1st tri or before I could feel her kicking & wiggling around in there, but still. I guess that's part of being a mom...which is AWESOME since I'm already a worry wart (again, hence my name)! Sigh.

The Bump also says that I need to:

  1. Schedule a tour of the maternity ward {where I'll deliver} - DONE!
  2. Pre-register with my hospital - ummmm, no one mentioned this to me?! I guess I'll ask my Dr. about this one @ the next appointment.
Oh & I'm overdue (again, according to The Bump) on these tasks:
  1. Start interviewing pediatricians - guess I should get on that, huh?! I got a referral, I just need to make sure they take our insurance & set up an appt.
  2. Research private & public cord banking.
  3. Schedule a Glucose Tolerance Test - plan to complete this Wednesday...wish me luck!
And on my own list:
  1. Discuss maternity pics, select a date & find inspiration photos for my little sis (she agreed to do my maternity pictures - she's a pretty awesome amateur photog).
  2. Finish up DIY nursery projects (as of now, that's about 3 more left, but knowing me, I'm sure I'll add more).
  3. Type up proposed maternity leave schedule & discuss with both my boss{es} (we have briefly discussed it, but I wanna give them something in writing).
  4. Work on comprehensive Baby WB to do list.

So I guess I need to get on the ball on a few things. I have also tasked Mr. WB with researching College Savings Plans & bringing what he finds to me, so we can make a decision on what'll work best for our family & budget. Whew. Thankfully that list does not include figuring out daycare - my older sister has generously offered to be our nanny. She's a SAHM, so she says she doesn't mind & she'll be able to bond with her first & only niece! LOVE her. :) It's gonna be soooooo much easier for me to go back to work knowing our baby girl is being cared for by someone we know, love & trust and someone that we know will not harm her in any way. My sister is a very natural nurturer, must come from being oldest? IDK...but she's awesome with kids & I know she'll take great care of Baby WB.

Baby Center says the baby's network of nerves in her ears are better developed and more sensitive than before & that she can almost definitely hear outside voices in addition to mine. I definitely think she knows her daddy's voice, because anytime he puts his head down near my belly & talks to hear, she kicks for him. A daddy's girl already! They are totally forming an alliance against me, but it's cool because I know my sweet doggie will remain on his mama's side...he better if he knows what's good for him! Or maybe, he'll join the Baby/Mr. WB alliance (b/c I'm sure he & the baby will be BFFs), then I'll have no one on my side. Sigh. Outnumbered. Already. By way of symptoms, I am definitely feeling more achy towards the end of the day & I have been getting a lot more frequent heartburn. Last night it kept me up for a bit. It's not horribly unbearable, but it still hurts! I have also been having a lot more (tmi) gas - my poor hubby. And my ankles are swelling again - I assume from humidity & salt intake like last time, so I'm laying down with my feet up resting now.

Also, my baby buying obsession is still in full effect. My newest purchase - that Mr. WB denied, but I just HAD to have so I bought it with my credit card. : ) We have a joint, but also separate checking accounts & one separate c/c each that we pay from our separate accounts...works very well for us. But I digress, I bought my little girl the most frivilous, but also the absolute cutest thing ever:

::giggle snort:: A-freakin'-dorable, right?! I love that it's 0-12 months, so she can wear it for her newborn pics, her monthly ones too possibly & for her first birthday!!! And the best part - I got it on babysteals for $35 & it's regularly $70, although on sale for $55 right now!! So now I want to try & make her a cute hair bow to go with it!

I also made the last of the really major purchases for her nursery! I got her bedding, toy storage tote & throw pillow/cover for her glider all from PBK (I had a 10% off your entire purchase coupon too, woot):

PBK Brooke Decorative Sham (I also bought the pillow insert for $10 from PBK)

PBK Girls' Canvas Buckets (I got the large one in pink dot)

And finally, my 26 week bump pic + a comparison for every 5 weeks starting @ 5 weeks & ending with 25 weeks (click to enlarge) - I definitely think I look pregnant, but still don't think I've "popped" so to speak. Or maybe I have & it's all in my mind that I haven't?! Regardless, I'm fully in maternity or my Mr. WB's clothes, lol. Keep growing big & strong in there Baby WB!!

26 weeks:
5-25 week comparison (every 5 weeks):

PS - don't forget to enter the buti-bag company giveaway that ends tonight. And you can get 40% off your entire order for any purchase you make during the giveaway too. Their stuff is really great!

25 weeks....

and 3 days to be exact :)

Yesterday was a busy day! Mr. LB was off of work so we had a fun-filled day of shopping. Mind you, it was supposed to be shopping for Mr. LB but somehow he ended up with 1 pair of shorts and Baby LB got 2 pairs of shoes and a bunch of clothes. We also found a lamp for the nursery and we bought a Wii! If you don't own one, you really should. It's awesome. We were playing with it all night, till about 3am.

In between all the shopping we went and had an u/s @ this place not far from home that does then for free. It's a training center for u/s techs and they let the student do them. None of the pictures were all that great mostly just of things they need to learn to take measurements of. We, however, got to hang out and watch our boy for about an hour :) It was great. He was moving around like crazy, kicking and punching at the u/s wand. Entertaining to say the least.
We got new stats for him! All his measurements are still ahead buy a few days to a week and he's weighing in at 1lb 12oz. The last time we went was at 22 weeks 2 days (exactly 3 weeks ago) and he weighed 1lb it's amazing he's put on almost a pound!
They were also able to measure my cervix which was 4.80cm, this made me very happy.
All in all it was a great day.

The nursery is coming along. Mr. LB has weird days off so finishing the painting has taken a little longer than expected. He's almost done, though. Just touching up the paint under the chair rail. We're thinking the carpet will probably be replaced sometime within the next 2 weeks and then we can move the glider in here and some other things. As soon as my desk is out of here I'll take pictures.

Baby steps!

When enough is enough...

So it's official - I can no longer eat a full meal. This is something I didn't expect to happen. But there seems to be a trend beginning in the GB Household.

I know they say that eating 6 small meals a day is good for you (pregnant or not) but I'm a three meals a day kind of gal. Mr. GB likes to cook... a lot... and he's really good at it! So all our meals seem to be supersized! Usually, there's some sort of meat... some sort of potatoes, garlic bread or toast, and then a salad or other veggie side. Normally I keep my portions to a normal size and try not to eat TOO much but lately it seems like I've been gobbling up an entire plate without even blinking an eye.

Well it hit me the other night... the feeling of being overly stuffed that is. After eating my third or fourth dinner that week this way I came to the realization that there is no longer enough room in my belly for this kind of eating.

We were sitting on the couch watching a movie after dinner when I realized that I was REALLY uncomfortable - I could barely get a full deep breath without feeling like my belly was going to pop open. I had ate WAY too much! I got up and walked around a little bit - I drank a glass of water - tried going to the bathroom - the thought of making myself throw up even crossed my mind (more than once). To no avail, I decided to just go to bed... and vowed never to eat that much again.

The last few days I've been doing really good to not feel like that again. I can only imagine that its not going to get much better as I'm only going to have less and less room in there. I've been trying to do the six small meals a day thing - it still doesn't work great but I found if I just eat less for breakfast, lunch and dinner I usually need at least one snack so it's working out better. I just have to really watch it!

With all these holiday goodies lurking the next few weeks won't be easy - wish me luck!!!

December 16, 2009

Hello, My Name is Bad Blogger...

OOPS!
I've been a little MIA lately... I have no excuse other than laziness. So I guess I have a lot to report since it's been a good two weeks since my last update.

First of all - we are now 25 weeks and 4 days knocked up! Woot woot! I'm feeling it though - BIG TIME. I'm not sure if I've just been eating crappy or if Baby GB is having a growth spurt but this last week I've been just completely and utterly worn out and I feel absolutely HUGE!

I'm going to ignore the fact that I made Mr. GB bring me chocolate cheesecake for dinner on Monday night - along with the fact that I ate an entire Totino's pizza for lunch today. In all seriousness, I need to get my act together and start eating better and get my butt back in the gym a few times a week. So that's my goal - Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays from 5-6pm is my time I'm devoting to the gym - this was supposed to start today. Which brings me to excuse #1 why I skipped my first day back at it:

ICE SUCKS!!! Rather, a pregnant lady, holding a 16oz decaf latte in one hand, her purse and lunch bag in the other, wearing Ugg boots should not step out of her car onto a sheet of ice. She's bound to fall down - and that I did. Thankfully I landed on my left hip and not all that hard. Baby GB seems to be ok in there as he's been moving around all day but I called Dr. C to make sure they didn't want to see me just in case. She said as long as I'm not cramping or bleeding I should be ok. I thought maybe I'd take it easy and start the gym on Friday?! Sounds good.

Also, this past weekend my BFF was in town with her 6 month old son. So we kind of got a taste of what we're in for. Now if any of you remember from my very first post - I declared myself a reformed baby hater. Reformed I am! But I'm not going to lie - other people's kids still make me nervous!!! I about passed out when she asked me to change his diaper, like I was going to break him or something?! I find this so silly since I'm about to be changing A LOT of diapers but I'm sure it'll be different when it's my own. (**ahem** I hope?!)

I suppose I'll leave you with thebump.com's 6 month update :)

Baby's now the size of an eggplant!

That oh-so-handy sense of equilibrium is kicking in, and baby's learning to distinguish right side up from upside down.
